Menara Alor Setar or Alor Setar Tower


The Menara Alor Setar is a 165.5 meter tall tower in Alor Setar, in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. It was built for Telekom Malaysia at a cost of RM40 million  and officially opened to public by the charismatic Malaysia's  fourth  Prime Minister, Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad in  14th, August 1997.
It marks as the 19th tallest tower in the world and  also the second tallest tower in Malaysia, after the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur.With an observation deck and platform  vistors will enjoy a breathtaking view that stretches from Gunung Jerai  to the Strait of Malacca. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the picturesque contours of majestic Gunung Keriang, Kedah river, the whole  city of Alor Setar  and the vast expanses of  paddy fields especially during harvest time.  In terms of structure design, the wide space of the observation deck permits a large number of visitors to enjoy the unlimited view before them.
Apart from serving the role of a telecommunication tower, it also caters as a tourist destination for the town. The tower also houses some restaurants and a souvenir shop. The tower is an observatory tower to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Muslim months.  The observation deck is at a height of 88 meters from the base of the structure
The Menara Alor Setar architectural design is unique and exclusively as it symbolizes Kedah's establishment reputations the 'rice bowl' of Malaysia. The tower pillar clearly resembles the image of a bunch of paddies.
The tower is standing tall at  the height of  165.5 m is the most prominent landmark in the city that signifies the rapid development in the  state of  Kedah. 
Facilities provided are  car parks, toilets , telescopes at observation deck, meeting room , seminar halls, souvenir shops and a revolving Restaurant Sri Angkasa for an amazing  dining  adventure high above the sea-level with pleasing panoramic surroundings of Kedah.
